WELCOME

This website is dedicated to the hardwork of my students at Morinville Community High School in Morinville, Alberta, Canada.  Contained within this site is information pertaining to my science courses and samples of work from students in the MDC (Media, Design and Communication) strand of CTS (Career and Technology Studies) dating back to 1994 (the first year the school opened).

For almost thirty years, I've been proud to teach MDC at MCHS, which has given a multitude of students knowledge about the work in the graphic design and television production industries.  This has produced thousands of student projects over the years, many of which are displayed on this website.

Within a fully functioning television broadcast, students in my MCTV class have had the opportunity to create live television programming since 1995.  Morinville Community High School is among a handful of schools in the provinces offering this extensive hands-on technology training for students at the secondary level.

Not all learning occurs in the classroom and I organize two annual trips that allow students the change to experience the Rocky Mountains first hand.  In September, students hike some of the most beautiful trails in Alberta's National Park system as part of the Fred Scharmann Memorial Hiking Trip.  In May, we trade hiking boots for biking shorts and cycle over 200 kilometres through the Rockies over three days.  The Roger Champagne Memorial Bike Trip has become a Morinville institution, with 2024 marking its 30th edition.

As well, students at MCHS also have the opportunity to participate in the Skills Canada Alberta competition.  Every May, students from across the province compete in various trade and technology events to see who is truly the best of the best.  Since 1999, Morinville Community High School has sent students to this competition and it has been my pleasure to be along side of them very step of the way.  From 2005-2015, I served as a Provincial and National Technical Committee member for the TV/Video Production competition.  In 2024, the Skills Alberta Provincial Competition will be held in Edmonton and the Skills Canada National Competition will be held in Quebec City.
