The Fred Scharmann Memorial Hiking Trip provides students the opportunity to spend three days hiking some of the best trails in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This annual excursion into the heart of the Alberta Rockies' backcountry pays tribute to a man who was just as well known for his giving nature as he was for his love of the mountains.
This September's trip will send students to Banff and Jasper National Parks. With HI Rampart Creek Wilderness Hostel as a base of operations, students will hike into some of the most spectacular alpine areas in the province. Scheduled hikes include Sunset Pass & Nigel Pass. All hikes are subject to change based on weather and/or trail conditions.
Planning for the September 2025 trip to the Lake Louise area is already underway. Registration for it will begin in the spring of 2025. As always, spots will be limited and fill up extremely quickly. Be sure to see Mr. Boutestein, Mr. Coxen or Mrs. Stafford early to ensure you're not left out of this amazing opportunity.
You can sign up for free and secure hiking trip notifications by logging on to rmd.at/hikingtrip.
