The Fred Scharmann Memorial Hiking Trip provides students the opportunity to spend three days hiking some of the best trails in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.  Named in honour of the long time support truck driver of the Roger Champagne Memorial Bike Trip, this annual excursion into the heart of the Alberta Rockies' backcountry pays tribute to the man who was just as well known for his giving nature as he was for his love of the mountains.

This September's trip will send students to Jasper National Park. With HI Castle Mountain Wilderness Hostel as a base of operations, students will hike into some of the most spectacular alpine areas in the province.  Scheduled hikes include Gibbon Pass & Rockbound Lake.  All hikes are subject to change based on weather and/or trail conditions.

Planning for the September 2024 trip to the Columbia Icefields area is already underway.  Registration for it will begin in the spring of 2024.  As always, spots will be limited and fill up extremely quickly.  Be sure to see Mr. Boutestein early to ensure you're not left out of this amazing opportunity.

You can sign up for free and secure hiking trip notifications by logging on to rmd.at/hikingtrip.
