Established in 1992, Skills Canada Alberta is a not-for-profit provincial association, which serves as a critical link between employers, educators, labour groups and the government to reposition trade and technical careers as a first choice career option for youth in Alberta.

The Provincial Skills Canada Alberta (SCA) Competition, held at the Edmonton Expo Centre, features high school and post-secondary students from across Alberta competing in trade and technical events ranging from autobody repair to welding, graphic design to baking.  During the two-day competition (May 7-8, 2025), each student specializes in one event area and must complete a project that has been designed by experts in that field.  In some events (ie. Cabinet Making, Hairstyling, Video Production, Welding), students must first compete at a regional level before qualifying for the provincial event.  Students who win at the provincial level, go on to represent Alberta at the annual Skills Canada National Competition from May 29-30, 2025 in Regina, Saskatchewan.  For more information talk to Mr. Boutestein, Mr. Coxen, Mr. Pietraszewski, Mrs. Receuver, Ms. Sansano or Mr. Swerda.
